ISG AI Impact Summit: New York

October 28 - 29, 2026

AI’s big payoff: where is it?

The New York edition of ISG AI Impact Summit has built their agenda around one question — where is the ROI that AI promised? A lot of it is still constrained by legacy systems that make it too slow, too tricky, too risky to move.

We submit that mainframe modernization is missing a critical component: verification.

Join us in New York together with our COO, Edward Hieatt, who'll be speaking on Day 2.

Attendance is reserved for enterprise IT and business executives — register here using our referral code, ORCHARDVIP.

Speaking session

Why verification unlocks faster, provable modernization
Thursday, October 29 at 2 pm

The hard part of enterprise modernization has never been writing the code. It's getting the new code to work well with the rest of the system. AI has accelerated the speed of writing new code, but hasn't addressed the real constraint: the risk that stems from lack of verification.

This session argues that shifting verification “left” into the process of rewriting based on a system’s behavior, rather than solely the code or extracted business rules, is what meaningfully reduces the risk and timeframes of modernization programs.

Edward Hieatt draws on work across banks, insurers, retailers, and manufacturers to show what changes when verification comes first. For system integrators: more accurate estimates, credible outcome-based pricing, and delivery that’s decoupled from headcount. For enterprises: long-deferred modernization is finally practical, readying systems safely for innovation.

I love helping companies improve their business by becoming great at software development. After my experience with startups, I was drawn to consulting, helping to grow Pivotal Labs from a handful of like-minded engineers into a respected business. As Pivotal formed and grew its developer platform product, I oversaw the rapid expansion of the Customer Success organization to thousands of technical staff globally while pioneering techniques with the subscription business model. I oversaw the integration and four subsequent years of operation as VMware Tanzu, following Pivotal’s IPO and acquisition.
